Holle Dietzman Ms. Maggert Honours English III 09 December 2016 The Effects of Pornography There is a new threat to society, an up and coming monster slowly awakening from its deep slumber. Pornography is this monster and it is a problem. Pornography has been around since the mid-1600’s, during the 1970’s the industry was revolutionized by the beginning of the internet and the changes in social mores, allowing them to create more uncommon and risque media. Since that time though it has only grown into a bigger problem for many people, which can become an addiction. Pornography is a growing addiction and it can cause the user lots of harm because, it changes the way the userÅ› brain works, cause you to become violent, and can change the way you look at and love others. When someone uses pornography it rewires the brain and changes how it works on a day-to-day basis. Dopamine is a chemical in your body that causes you to be happy and want to do things. Just like with other addictive substances when pornography is used it causes a flow of dopamine to rush into the brain. With a constant rush of dopamine the brain’s reward pathway is rewired, which changes the makeup of the viewer s brain.
